When some years down the line, one recalls the economic boom in India and recounts several success stories, one field where the impact would be commented as superb, will be Advertisement. Even before the Indian Industry started its upward journey, Advertisement had matured in India. In fact, the role that Advertisement played in the showcasing of India and its market to the world is remarkable. I feel that is one success story which has gone unrecognized or unfelicitated.
Several names and companies come into mind when one tries to jot down the success story of Indian Advertisement. However, there is one that stands out. The name stands out like the man himself. Piyush Pandey. Yes, if there is one single name that will be talked the world over as India’s contribution to the world of advertisement, it is Ogilvy and Mather’s (O&M’s) man with the stand-out mustache. The unkempt, militarist mustache on his face would be what you would notice first, when you meet him. Once he starts talking, the sense of humour and repartee would replace the mustache. But even then you wouldn’t realize the worth this man has in the advertisement world, since he does not wear his success on his sleeves.
If O&M has the widest range of popular advertisements in their kitty, the credit should go to the creative genius of this ad-mogul. He has put India on the Advertisement world map. I have always felt that the ultimate creation of this Creative Genius is yet to be seen. Pandey is presently a Board member of O&M world wide, Executive Chairman, Ogilvy ( India and South Asia) and Vice Chairman O&M Asia-Pacific.

Find and replace ‘Advertisement’ with “Advertising’.
You can’t afford mistakes when you are talking about the man himself.
