New logos and tag lines

whats common in them…well you guessed it !! They have all changed their logos or taglines or both in the recent past.The question is not why but why now ? A logo or Tagline is what that defines an organisation.They are strong enough to depict what a company IS what it HAS and what it CAN or simply symbol or a line as well to visualise the company.Simply they are like DNA that gives information about the better bigger things.Shoppers stop, the family store that started in 1991 changed its logo (retained the colors though) and the introduced the caption “start something new“.when asked about the change , they came up with the reason, that to attract the majority customers who are young and who visit frequently,did not quite associate with the brand.Coming to the new face of Canara bank, the logo has a blue and a yellow triangle interlocked to show the bond between customers and the bank.The new Canara bank has also promised a lot to its customers.
The money they put in in this make-overs and re-branding is also very huge.Shoppers stop spent nearly 20 crores for this make-over.Changes include renovated trial rooms, having an own ‘Shoppers stop radio’ and an anthem too written by the famous Gulzar which is played every morning in every outlet. Canara bank spent about 3.8 millions in its re-birth and also plans to open 21 new branches abroad. For the answer to WHY NOW ,I think, could be just to catch the eye of the public, to advertise and introduce their new plans or changes and thereby creating a new circle of influence.
