Naina Lal Kidwai ( born in 1957 )  completed her schooling in Loreto  convent, Simla. Naina grew up in a rich Indian family. Her father was the CEO of a leading insurance company. Right from the beginning she was very passionate about sports and so she represented her school in every sport. She completed her Bachelors degree in Economics from Lady Shri Ram College in Delhi university. Then she went abroad for higher studies. Naina was the First Indian Woman to graduate from the HARVARD BUSINESS SCHOOL, Boston, Massachusetts (USA). After applying for a  position as a trainee at Price Waterhouse , she stayed with the company for 3 years as an independent auditor examining clients’ accounting and finance records and ensured their compliance with established controls, policies, procedures, and laws.

                 Later Naina  joined ANZ Grindlays Bank during at a time when male dominancy prevailed in the Business World. Due to her hard work and innovativeness she was promoted to head the entire division. By 1991 Kidwai felt it was time for a new challenge and made a lateral move to the company’s retail-banking division. Due to her aggressive approach in engineering, a joint venture with investment bank JM Financials, the renamed JM Morgan Stanley became the most important investment bank in India, managing corporate mergers worth nearly $700 million in 1999. Later in November 2002, Naina became vice chairman and managing director of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation’s (HSBC) investment banking and securities business in India.In 2003 she was estimated to be the highest-paid banker in India.
 

As of 2006, she is the Chief Executive Officer of HSBC in India. Naina Lal Kidwai is currently the Group General Manager and Country Head Of HSBC India.
She was the FIRST INDIAN WOMEN TO:

1) Head the operations of a foreign bank in India according to the Economic Times.

2) Have joined Price WaterHouseCoopers.

3) Graduate from Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration.
