I would not like to take sides on this battle. Nor would I like to pass judgement with a bias. But being a Reliance group share holder and an ardent admirer of the late Shri Dhirubai Ambani, I have been closely monitoring the  progres and debvelopments in the split between his sons. As long as the shareholders’ worth was only enhanced and the group companies only stood to gain, the split was not of much conse quence to me.

But the happneongs after the split, has really mademealert to a possible symptom, showing up in the spat between the brothers. The way the companies were partitioned and the split legalised, it was evident that the matriarch in the family had a clear favourite. I for one am fully convinced that Dhirubai by himslef would never have allowed the split or if he had decided to apportion the companies to the siblings, he would never have done it in the lopsided manner in which his wife did it.

The clear signs of favouritism was evident when Reliance Comm, acompany started by Mukesh Ambani(M.A.), sort of surruptitiously, with out the express consent of his brother Anil(A.A.), landed in A.A.’s hands after the split.Instead, Reliance petro, a company dreamt up and initiated by A.A.ended up with M.A. Evidently, the valuations revealed a stark difference between the fortunes of A.A. and his brother, wit the former being clearly made the loser.

Yet, thanks to his business acument, A.A. increased his value multifold and in less than two years was already breathing down M.A.’s neck. The latter went inot panic mode and sumoned all his clout and connectios with the present ruling regime in Delhi to subvert all attempts of A.A.

The illegal manner in which the ADAGE bid for the airpor revamping at Delhi and Mumbai were sabotaged and given to outside parties, of curse using the politicalclout, was the first evidence of M.A.becoming uneasy.

Then came the pressure on Mayavati to cancel land allotted to A.A. for a project in UP for which he had already sunk nearly Rs 4000 cr.

The worst face of M.A. was revealed when a coterie fo his cronies rigged the share prices of Reliance Power tomakelakhs of investors lose their money on the opening day. But A.A. showed who is a better strategist y announcing bonus shares to every one. This stunned and shocked the M.A. group to blissful silence for sometime.

The latest of the nefarious designs of the business tycoon who became a tycoon just by the fortune of his birth and not merits, were revealed when he set about derailing the MTN deal of Reliance Comm.As I write this MTN would have already backed out of the deal.

All this shows that, the elder of the sibling:

is running amock out of sheer jealousy or jealousy and  fear-fear of losing his premier wealthy man position shortly to his brother.

is trying to use his unholy political clout to sabotage any growth plan fo A.A.

May be only time will tell who will be the ultimate loser in the whole turf war-MA, AA or the gullible investors.
