Tired of buying expensive textbooks and then realizing that they’re worth nothing after a semester is over because a new edition is out? Spending hundreds of dollars on books which you rarely use? Here is a list of websites that can be excellent online resources for your university courses (and yes, they’re free for public use!).
- MITÂ Open CourseWare – one of the most popular free-sources of college level courses and instruction. Of course, its from MIT !
- NotreDame Open Course Ware – similar to MIT.
- Yale Open CourseWare – from Yale University.
- Berkely Webcast – podcasts from UC Berkely.
- Utah State Open CourseWare – well from Utah State
- Tufts Open CourseWare – from Tufts University.
- NPTEL – if you never got through IIT but wanted to have a similar level of instruction, this is your chance. National Program on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is funded by the Indian Ministry of Human Resource and Development. Check out their awesome youtube channel here.
- Archive.org – Contributors to this open-source content-rich site include MIT, Hewlett Foundation, ArsDigitaUniversity among others.
- Cineversity – a great online resource for students, especially multimedia students. It has tutorials on 3d software packages like Cinema 4D.
If I come across any other free resources I’ll put it in the comments section or make another page. Please feel free to add to the list in the comments section. Happy Studying! And ya, save some precious bucks!
